Preparing Your Homeschool Classroom

Posted in Homeschool at 10:21 am by Administrator

Abstract: christian home school

Once you’ve made the decision to homeschool your child/ren, you will need to prepare a homeschool classroom. This is important and critical for both you and your child. This will help separate work time and play time. This also gives you space to keep all of your resources organized and to stay focused.

First, find your “extra space”. The bigger the better! Use an extra bedroom, a den, or a finished basement area. If your lucky enough, and have the land, you can build an outside building for your classroom. Whichever you choose, make it your designated “homeschool classroom”. Clear the room out completely, its always easier to start with a blank slate.

Next, get your child involved! Why not make it a project with your child? After all, it’s their space too. Get a plan drawn out on paper of different areas you might like for your room. A comfortable reading area is always a plus! A nice, large, child size table with child size chairs. Don’t forget an area for yourself. A closet is great for resources and supplies. Let’s not forget a computer with internet access, computers are excellent resources for homeschooled children. If you have the room, a computer for yourself is always nice. This allows you work time while your child is busy or you can get resources for yourself as needed.

You will need plenty of shelving space for resources and materials for both you and your child. A cheap, easy way to do this is at your local building store. Just buy the shelves that are put up on brackets and attached directly to the walls. You can use these shelves for all your storage needs. You can even divide the shelving into sections such as sciene, math, social studies, reading, or whatever you choose.

Finally, Decorate Decorate Decorate! There is a reason for bulletin boards and decorations in classroooms. Stimulation! You can decorate as part of your lesson plans and your child should definately be involved. Make a display section for your childs work and achievements to show them how proud you are of all their effort.

Do your outstanding to designate an entire room to your homeschooling needs. This will allow your child and you to distinguish between education time and family time in your household. This also allows for less distractions that your house may bring to both you and your child. You can’t perform compellingly if your thinking about the dishes you need to be doing or if the phone is ringing of the hook. Your child may not be thinking educationally if they see all those toys or other distractions your house may bring. The most important thing to remember is that if you feel good and professional about your homeschool area, then it will reflect in your teachings!

Boring Textbooks = Bored Kids + Bored Mom

Abstract: california driving home school schooling

Are your children growing bored with their textbooks? Are you growing tired of hearing them complain? Is it possible that your textbooks are the problem? If you’ve never thought about this, take a moment to think about it now. Think about how each child is unique. With this in mind, you’ll be able to set out to find new ways to work with your child.

One idea… Unit studies. Doing a unit study with your child is one way in which you can help your child(ren) discover their own gifts and talents, as they learn about the world at our side. Unit studies can provide you with some wonderful experiences. So, take time to use unit studies, to begin a trail of discovery for both you AND your child(ren). This truly can be a powerful journey of discovery, because when you give your child(ren) a chance to follow their interests, the outcome can be surprising. Unit studies provide you with this opportunity. They also give your child(ren) a chance to obtain a better understanding of the way things work, the history of the world, their own abilities, and much higher.

Some people seem to think that if you use unit studies that there will be holes in their child(ren)’s education. Truth be told though, no student ever completely finishes a textbook. The shame in this lies in the fact that the “good” stuff usually lies toward the end of the textbook. With a good education children are taught how to be able to think and how to build a sound foundation of learning. The whole point is to build a strong tree of knowledge for your child(ren) where upong they are able to place likewise information over the course of their lifetime.

As a mother, you’re never going to be able to teach your child(ren) about everything, but you can teach your child(ren) how to think, how to investigate, and how to research and dig for answers. This, in and of itself, will be a priceless education for those who will be successful in a rapidly changing world. Unit studies hold all of this power within their “papers.” When writing them, my intention is to provide this power for you to unpack for your child(ren). Enjoy!

Deciding To Consolidate Debt?

Posted in Homeschool at 12:37 pm by Administrator

Abstract: california home school schooled traffic
Tag:

What is the point of consolidating debt and when should you do
it? What are some of the options for consolidating debt? At some
point in their financial lives, many people ask these questions.
If you have been pondering these thoughts, read on.

Consolidating debt means different things to different people.
To a young couple or family thinking about buying a home
consolidating debt may be necessary to lessen their debt to
income ratio. For a single person tired of writing ten or twenty
checks each month consolidating debt may be a way of making
his/her financial life farther convenient and organized. A family
with college age children may consolidate debt in order to fund
a college education. Older people on the verge of retirement may
be considering debt consolidation as a way of simplifying their
lives and adjusting to a change in income. All of these
scenarios are sound reasons for investigating debt consolidation
and all require different approaches for said consolidation.

What types of debt consolidation might be used by the people in
each of the previous situations?

A couple on the verge of their first home purchase may find that
the amount they owe on their credit cards each month takes up
too large a portion of their monthly income. Sometimes lending
institutions will not approve a home loan for a buyer who does
not have a certain amount of unobligated income. In order to
free up a little income the couple may choose to consolidate
their debt. To accomplish this all of the current bills would be
paid off via a lower interest, longer term loan. Because the
loan is not costing them as much in interest and is being paid
off over a longer period of time the monthly payment would be
smaller. Thus, the proportion of debt to income would be lower.

When a person is just tired of writing a great number of checks
each month and concerned that one month a payment due might get
overlooked, he/she may choose to do a simple debt consolidation
for the purpose of bringing all of his/her bills under one roof.
If the person has good credit this is easily achieved. Sometimes
if the debt is refinanced at a lower interest rate not only will
the person end up with a likewise convenient payment he/she will
also have a lower payment.

A family which owns its own home may tap the equity in that home
to pay for a child’s college education. In order to do this the
home must have accumulated sufficient value to cover the cost of
the mortgage, the cost of the refinancing, the cost of the bills
to be rolled over and still generate enough cash to pay for the
child’s schooling. Given the rate at which home values have
appreciated in recent years having this much equity is not
unreasonable. However, homeowners should not make their homes
piggybanks for any type of expense that comes up. Constant
cashing out of a home’s equity is expensive and perhaps even
dangerous over the long run.

Persons nearing retirement age may choose to consolidate debts
in order to make life less complicated as well as to make living
less expensive. This type of debt consolidation is also done by
accessing the equity in one’s home. If the mortgage is long
standing and the couple has controllingtained good to excellent credit
it may be that the house can be refinanced at a significantly
better interest rate while also generating cash to pay off a
substantial number of bills. Thus, as the couple enters their
retirement years they have a lower house payment and fewer bills
to pay.

The above examples illustrate just a few ways that debt
consolidation may enhance the lifestyles of modern consumers.
